I switched to XFCE on Fedora... on my desktop and laptop. Once I remove that bottom launcher panel thing... I think this one fits my workflow better. The only thing I wish it had was a searchable application menu. Is there anything I can do to XFCE to get that functionality without altering too much?

I saw this yesterday and wasn't impressed at all, Windows is using WSL to bring in a few apps, can it be useful, sure. But pretty much anyone who is going to need a linux GUI app, is already going to be using Linux and possibly have a Windows VM running under KVM.

Running virt-manager without needing to run xming would be nice.

It isn't a successful day unless you'd dropped at least one client from a bridge. ..

We need one of those "This is SPARTA" moments.

The Server 2012 R2 CA I've been working on decided it hated my domain and has lost the trust relationship. I don't know the local admin account credentials. Do I have any other options short of rebuilding it?

You could try booting a live linux iso and use a program called chntpw to reset the local admin password.

Why is Microsoft Update even messing with user data anyway? I get it if you’re not able to access your data because you can’t log in.

      cool... will research on that...

You can add other servers that has cockpit installed and managed them from one webui.

Basically, don't use Edge (anywhere, for any reason unless you hate yourself).

I've been using Edge a lot more than Chrome on Windows but I'm still an avid Firefox user.

Maybe this will be the Gnome release that convinces me to enjoy Gnome. 😛

It depends if you were ever interested in Gnome at all.

My main beef with Gnome is that without an extra tool package, files and directories that you place in the /home/whateverUser/Desktop directory don't actually appear on the desktop. It's been a while since I've given Gnome a chance (notwithstanding a recent thread), so maybe my gripe is no longer valid.

I believe Gnome Tweak has a option to enable Desktop. But it was never an issue for me because I dislike anything on there except for wallpaper.

I know with Elementary OS, they removed Desktop folder.

Yeah, my gripe isn't a functional one. It's more of an aesthetic gripe: "why have that folder if it doesn't make stuff appear on the GUI's desktop?"

Because in Fedora for example allows you to log in using Gnome classic.

      https://cockpit-project.org/blog/cockpit-228.html

cockpit-docker is deprecated in favor of cockpit-podman.
cockpit-machines support reverting to and deleting VM snapshots

You can set up accounts with weak passwords.

      Changes to remote host logins
Cockpit used to try to log into remote hosts with your initial login password when “Reuse my password for remote connections” was selected during login. This option has been removed, and Cockpit does not promote password reuse across accounts anymore. Instead, Cockpit now helps with setting up SSH keys for users that want automatic and password-less login to remote hosts.

For DNS and DHCP, I'd either replace the Spectrum router entirely with an EdgeRouter Lite (~$95 from Amazon) and do it all there to keep things nice and simple, or run a Linux VM, probably Fedora or CentOS, to do this. Keep it simple. Everything does DHCP and DHS, there is no upside to having something special for that.

VyOS is does a awesome job has a router.
There’s even a nice howto setup too.
