s the B2 product the one we would use with the server edition? And are there any other cloud backup products out there I should consider?

yes, check the integration partners product list
other providers I'm aware of are not as competitive as.

So they dont include a Windows Server backup tool, you have to select/purchase a partner tool?

they do not, it's just the cloud storage. Someone like CloudBerry makes the tools. Or veeam.

      AAAhhhhhh

So what then do you recommend? lol

Use CloudBerry, Veeam, your own script, anything you want.

Any idea what they charge for Cloudberry per month for their managed backup product. Single server?

I dislike calling for pricing 💊

The product you'd want, Linux to B2 backup tool, is $80.

Same product work for Windows Server 2012 if they stick with that initially?

So at this point I would assume a clean install of FreePBX 14 with Asterisk 14 is recommended?

      So FreePBX14 with Asterisk 15?

The System firmware no longer exists if you are on FreePBX 14. That is all part of the yum upgrade now.

My FreePBX 14 monthly CLI method:

      1. Upgrade the OS
      yum upgrade -y

      1. Upgrade the modules
      fwconsole ma upgradeall
      fwconsole reload

Man, I would definitely love to update these to 14. Would it be easier to backup settings and restore to a new 14 installation?

I have done the "standard" migration a few times and never had a problem since it came out of beta.
      https://wiki.freepbx.org/display/PPS/Upgrading+from+FreePBX+10.13.66+to+SNG7

So at this point I would assume a clean install of FreePBX 14 with Asterisk 14 is recommended? We could easily recreate/copy the extensions and trunk info on the new installation.

Their current install is broke, won't update and the dashboard wont even display. I was going to help them install FusionPBX but sticking with FreePBX would be more familiar for them. The updates have been my only headache. Well that and the issue with using a mobile app and getting banned while out of the office by RF.

    • Backblaze for Windows Server

I am helping a former customer clean up some IT related matters this week. Looking up Backblaze to backup their server. I have never used it but have seen it mentioned here often.

Is the B2 product the one we would use with the server edition? And are there any other cloud backup products out there I should consider?

They currently have a Windows Server 2012 R2 install but we were also discussing going to Linux.

    • RE: Fitness and Weightloss

@s-hackleman said in Fitness and Weightloss:

@penguinwrangler As far as weight-loss goes you will typically get better results with weight-loss with strength training than cardio. When you do cardio, you burn more calories than sitting. When you lift weights you burn more calories, then your body will spend more calories rebuilding muscle the next day, then that new muscle now takes more calories to move, so you burn more in your day to day life. I am not saying you don't need cardio, but if your goal is weight loss at least consider doing a mix. I lift 3 days a week and ride my bike 6 miles round trip to and from work for my cardio. I started about where you were and I have slowly worked from 300lbs about 8 years ago down to 185, then back up to 200, and on a cut now to get to the 170's. Weight training is what took me from 220 to 185 and made a huge difference for me.

Also, you can not exercise off a bad diet. an 30min on the treadmill barely breaks even for a single bottle of soda.

This is great advice. I think if more people knew how little running/treadmills/ellipticals did to help you lose weight a lot more people would stick to their program.

Cardio is great for your heart and other things, but getting the fat off is far more important to good health.

If you’ve hit a plateau with weight loss and food I think it’s best to start with modified pushups and squats to get your core muscles built up. Mixing in short cardio (a set of anything as close to a burpee you can pull off at your given weight) with core workouts will help burn fat as well.

I’m a firm believer in a juicy steak once a week as well as monitoring your sugar levels after intro of new foods to your diet when you stall on weight loss. You can lose ALL your weight with diet, if it’s stalled somethings wrong. The core workouts and weight training are going to significantly increase your bodies need to burn fat to sustain muscle.

      [Slight Spoiler]

I'm not generally a bloodthirsty person, but it was disappointing how many characters narrowly avoided death at the end of the season.

I couldn’t finish season 2, wasn’t on the same level. And yeah I agree about a season 1.

Other than Zulu, you mean? Or does Zulu not do what you want? It's not free, so it's lacking something that I want.

Configuring a soft phone like Bria from your mobile device results in the responsive firewall banning your connections as you traserve cellular/WiFi networks.

    • RE: Turn your Twilio account into a full PBX

@trustserve said in Turn your Twilio account into a full PBX:

bigbear... i am interested in this. i would love to use just twilio and not have to fiddle with another pbx. open to beta testing or releasing your set up to someone else?

so can my people connect via webrtc? or is this a sip phone only thing?

I have been getting messages about this over the past month out of the blue for some reason.

So out of the box you can register endpoints to Twilio now and use WebRTC

      https://www.twilio.com/voice/sip-registration

      https://www.twilio.com/webrtc

My idea was to use the serverless code model to create the missing features of a PBX, but I had to slim down a light weight softswitch from other projects to handle presence and to translate DSS/Phone commands to something that could call a Twiml Bin or Twilio API.

The quality and SIP registration leans on Twilio while some things that Twilio doesnt offer leans on a 3rd party app engine instance.

I have thought about developing this further, but it seems trivial for Twilio to add these features themselves. I havent check in on Twilio updates since last year but I thought Studio would obviate the need for some of the things I was doing. I feel like as soon as I made something distributed everyone would find a way to break it or Twilio would release those features.

If you dont need presence or extension transfers from a hard phone Twilio does everything you want out of the box. Complex IVR and transfers down to your SIP phone.

LOL, it supports Skype, that will definitely protect it from "the future."

What they are saying is that Skype for Business is being retired (announced last year) so you can buy for Skype and it has support for Microsoft Teams and Phone System in Office 365.

Microsoft is going all in on the Teams client as the new softphone for desktop and mobile, Skype for Business will be EOL.

    • Unifi and Zapier/IFTTT or other

I have just started thinking about this. I have 4 kids with phones that go to school and come home 3 different times a day. Would be nice to figure out when they have left and returned and usually check the wifi when I cant get ahold of them to see if their device is online.

Is there any API support for the Unifi controller and something like IFTTT or Zapier where I could setup such alerts for devices leaving and joining the home wifi.

Or other suggestion in general are welcome! Thanks!
