Telnet into Ricoh, Issue with SMB commandposted in IT Discussion
I am telnetting into a Ricoh all in one to change the SMB client port to 445. Thats what support is telling us to do to fix an auth issue when scanning to a network share. When I run smb at the Ricoh shell prompt I get 'syntax error'. The other commands work fine. I can see smb is a valid command. Its an MP 3351. Rebooted the 3351. Any ideas?

ownCloud Backupsposted in IT Discussion
Ive been creating Hyper-V snapshots before updating CentOS and ownCloud but want to get a more solid backup procedure in place. Im thinking when the server goes down for whatever reason i dont want to be screwed. I want to backup the OC user accounts first. Can anyone recommend a best practice for backing up user accounts? Files and documents are viewed, downloaded and deleted so I dont a reason to backup any of them at the moment.

USB Not Available in Hyper-V VMposted in IT Discussion
We use software called Phone Tree and the softwares phone dialing device is attached to USB. Problem is its installed on a Hyper-V VM and USB is not available in a VM from what I can see. I called the vendor and they said we would need an Anywhere USB device that will make the software see the dialing device in a virtual environment. Anywhere USB device is about $330. Is this my only option if I want USB available in a VM?

On a single laptop, I am able to login with the users previous network password, not her newest password.
When I go to any network location, I am prompted for username\password and have
to use the new password. Why is the laptop allowing me to login with the previous password? -
Planning a Chromebook Purchaseposted in IT Discussion
I am planning to buy a Chromebook. But not to use ChromeOS. I will install a Linux distro onto it. Which brand is recommended? I want a 14 inch screen or larger and I have to choose from Acer or HP? Do I want flash memory or an SSD?

RE: Planning a Chromebook Purchaseposted in IT Discussion
The one I have in mind has an Intel chip which should be ok to install a typical Linux distro. Is that correct?
