If any of you know me, you know I hate the idea of dieting. I'm a man who doesn't eat vegetables, and I love my carbs (pizza and sandwiches, yes please). Now I want to lose weight, slim up, or what have you, solely by working out which means I'll be working out much harder and much longer to maintain my pizza life style.

Has anyone else ever had luck with this? My google-fu just finds people saying "you need to diet", don't want too 😄

I am doing just about the exact opposite, not because I want to however. I am dieting with very little exercise. I recently found out I have Celiac Disease on top of my corn, bleach and tomato allergies. So I eat tons of veggies and lots of cheese, yogurt and rice. Due to a thyroid issue I am also on meds for that. So far I have lost 40ish lbs.

One day I may have some sort of issue with my diet, but I like it too much 👅 but 40 lbs ain't bad. Currently I'm about 190-200 as my floating weight, I'm also a 6'0" male so I'm not insanely far away from my goal of 170-180, losing 10-30 lbs shouldnt be too dreadful. I just dont like vegetables 😆

I miss my diet :(. I am 5'3" and a bit overweight even still. I am about to get back into being in a band so I need to get back in shape!! 4 hours of singing and dancing would kill me right now. So need to actually start working out to get in shape. My goal is only 40 lbs. away so I don't have that far to go.

            Drink your veggies!!

I did a combination of both. I made a routine at work where I walked the stairwell of the office for 15 minutes twice a day (morning and afternoon breaks). Then for lunch I walked around a local shopping mall twice (2 miles). My diet consisted of pretty much all carbs, just limited portions. I ate instant oatmeal for breakfast in a fixed size cup. I had cup noodles for lunch at my desk before I went to walk the mall. My snack in the afternoon was a can of pineapples (in juice not syrup). Then in the even was some random thing, usually noodles or rice.

I was 350pounds and made it to 176 pounds. In the last 7 years since I left that job and got married I am back up to 230 pounds. I have much better control now, but I have almost no exercise. I cannot manage to lock in any kinds of schedule and it is killing me.

@Minion-Queen oh I bought a juicer about a month or two ago and its amazing, I just don't honestly eat that much during the day, I usually have like a cereal bar and a handful of chips for breakfast, and skip lunch, and my fiancee cooks enough food for 4 people so I get my lunch and dinner in all at once; she wants to cook less, but swears she doesn't know how too :-P. I could swap my random breakfast with a mason jar of apple juice with carrots in it...

If you can get to the point of running 3 miles a day, it doesn't really matter what you eat; you'll lose weight.

@JaredBusch I'm looking into relocating to a more affordable state with much safer neighborhoods, my current regiment is go to the gym randomly during the week at random times due to schedules and such. I'm hoping that if I get to one of the few cities I'm looking into I'd have a much better place to jog in the morning, and a much more flexible schedule. Leaving home at 6am, and getting home at 5:30pm, doesn't afford much room for exercise during the week.

Yesterday I walk / ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill, and during my regular working hours paced across the office enough times to equal 2 miles... its lovely when people on both sides of the building need help at once.

Because I work from home I really don't get out that much... I do pace when I am on the phone, which is usually all day long. So I get in about 2 miles a day that way. I started doing Pilates but need to get back to it. I need to work on more aerobic things so I can get up my stamina to be gigging.

@david.wiese over the last 7 years I am back up to 230. I eat ok, but I have lost any type of fixed work schedule and the ability to fix an exercise routine into my day. I have been in and out of the gym for over a year now. I just cannot keep anything up without a schedule.

@JaredBusch Wow Jared that's amazing dude, furthermore I really like that robe lol. But that's awesome dude.

I guess its just every time I get done working out, I feel awesome. My body is in tune, my sweat is well spent, I feel amazing. When I "eat healthier", I don't feel rewarded, sure may lose a few pounds that way but... I don't feel like I could kiss Obama on the cheek and challenge him to a sprint down FedEx field like I do with a nice workout.

@RAM. As I said, i really did not eat "healthy" I ate pasta and rice and oatmeal, etc... All carbs mostly. I just taught myself to use good portions and worked an exercise routine into my work schedule. Went out to lunch once a week with co-workers and went out to the bar at least twice a month with friends.

After work I sat on my ass at home. I was hard into EverQuest 2 during 2005-2007. But 2 15 minute sessions on the stairs and a 2 mile walk at lunch every day add up.

You can eat anything you want, but you MUST have caloric control or you won't lose weight. You can still eat pizza and beer, etc, just eat less, maybe it will have to be a lot less, but less for sure.

I did this 2 years ago, without changing my diet I only lost 5 lbs before I plateaued. I had to change my diet.

All this said, I too have decided I need to drop some weight from my 6 ft 203 lbs ass. I started a diet change last week - no desserts for 6+ weeks (which sucks because I have a vacation right in the middle of this time frame - so much for planning). I'm also cutting my portion sizes but not the content of what I eat.
                                        Target goal, like RAM 175.
