Sad your email isn't samiller instead of just smiller

Or my full name or SAM or a lot of things 😞

Yeah, I go nuts because so many places use my legal first name in my email address. I never go by my legal name, but because that's my email I constantly get called that...

I understand WHY it happens. I have seen companies, though, that actually ask if you have a preferred name and then use that for your email as a result. It's much nicer.

@handsofqwerty Or just use your preferred name when filling out applications / new hire forms, etc.

That can cause issues sometimes with identification.

Yeah. Legally often you are not allowed to do that.

I had a job that refused to use my preferred name recently. Oddly my preferred name was simply my real name but they refused and it caused collisions in their AD and no end of issues.

Yeah, having A.J. on my resume and Andrew J. on my social security card, passport and/or license can create issues.

I got in a ton of trouble when they spelled my name incorrectly on my firearms license - holy shit.

Last name I assume? Kind of hard to screw up Matt/Matthew.

Is there a recording of the DevOps and Snowflakes session I can watch online?

No. I didn't count that one. That one was only technically a recording.

2010 was the Open Storage talk at the Alamo Drafthouse.
