@JaredBusch said in Non-IT News Thread:

Police said the man, 66, said he "would like to take someone behind the woodshed for this", which the pilot deemed threatening and then ordered the plane be diverted to Los Angeles.

One spoiled brat of a pilot, grow up already. Oh, wait, Merica doesn't do that, sorry, I keep forgetting.

So what's the point of headlights and tail lights if no one is driving it?
Oh, and stop pushing your tree-hugger crap on me. A garden in the car? Really? Disgusting. They could have put a cooler or more storage there.

Headlights to warn people that the car is coming. That way they don't step out in front of it in the darkness.

And tail lights so pedestrians don't walk into the back of it when it stops?

@art_of_shred Headlights and taillights are more important to make sure others see you, not so the driver can see. Seeing as a driver with no lights on is easy. Other people cant see you though which is bad

I guess my mind jumped ahead to a system where this was all of the vehicles, and not just an addition to the current ecosystem. If all cars are automated, and roads are set up for them, then some indicator lights make sense, but white lights in the front and red brake lights in the back are kind of unnecessary.

On top of that, you could have automated lights that click on for the vehicle when it detects pedestrians. So that would conserve power, although high-intensity LEDs are pretty cheap as far as electric goes.

Yeah, the entire concept of what we call a "car" would be up for redefinition in that case.

Agreed. Lots of needless things that benefit the driver would just go away. I'm not so sure about the rear facing seats though. Sounds like a trip to puke town to me.

I get sick when I do. Even turning my head to entertain my daughter in the back seat of a car makes me sicker then I would care to admit.

You've never been on a train in rear facing seats? or you just get sick when you do?

We do that all the time.

I'm sorry, you do what? Get sick or ride in trains with rear facing seats?
