Interesting, so you can see the thread title of the thread where the link is posted, even though you don't have access to the area in the forum where the thread is?
Is this a flaw in the URL creation of the forum? i.e. the forum uses the name of the thread in the URL that gets you to that thread?
Also could someone help me understand how the site you're going to knows where you're coming from?

Headers is how it knows where the link is coming from.

Also, it's because they don't hide the titles of the threads for private groups. If it was just .../topic/1111111 and that was it, I'd be none the wiser other than I couldn't see the thread. But it has the title after the topic number so I have a pretty good idea what it's about...

It's called the HTTP referer. Modern browsers can disable this. Firefox can do it natively chrome has extensions to disable it.

Lol, the only time this site gets heavy traffic is over controversial topics and most of them have to deal with AJ. It's really no secret and everybody can see it. If you can't see it, then you aren't paying attention.
