Apparently one of the largest bank robberies is still going on
      http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/14/8039593/hackers-malware-robbery-millions-bank-heist

Banks in Russia, Japan, the US, and Europe have fallen victim to a massive, sophisticated malware hack, allowing the perpetrators to steal hundreds of millions of dollars since 2013. According to a Kaspersky Labs report provided to the New York Times, more than 100 banks in 30 nations have been affected by the breach, with upwards of $300 million stolen in the process.

The Times reports that the majority of the affected banks are in Russia, but the hack is widespread and apparently ongoing.

I can't imagine the scale of the clean up.

That's an impressive hack. And two years of it going on!

It's like the old days of social engineering people to setup an .rhosts file with a wild card entry so you didn't need a login to get into the machine. You'd think people would learn host-based authentication (especially alone) isn't really good, but of course why would they learn? They never do.
