Staples Buys OfficeDepot

Not super exciting, but Staples is buying its large competitor OfficeDepot. I guess that only leaves OfficeMax in the space other than Staples. I thought that OfficeDepot was the larger of the two "secondary" players, although I really have no idea.

I admit that I rarely care to notice the difference between staples and office depot. They both have red signs and they both stores pretty much like the same. I have no loyalty or preference to one or the other.

I was wondering that, but as OfficeMax is still a complete head to head competitor and Walmart, Target and Best Buy cover nearly all the same bases I am guessing that they are nowhere near a monopoly.

We lost all of the little local staples stores in our area in the last month or so (like 6 towns lost them) we still have a OfficeMax semi local. Wonder if we will lose that too?

They kept 2 open in the city of Rochester (there used to be 3 or 4)

Same - I'd rather order online than shop at those places.. Best Buy is barely tolerable now.
