@dashrender they build a new image and reimagined the computer. It’s easy.

Yeah, I can't see this happening on 1000's+ computers. Something more automated seems likely.

@dashrender The upgrade to Windows 10 was the first I remember that would just work more often than not. When it didn't work it would roll back to whatever version you were upgrading from. I, personally, never had it fail outright and leave a computer in an unusable state. So we'd schedule the upgrade to happen overnight most of the time if we couldn't get the upgrade scheduled during the day when we could watch it.

Cool - I didn't know about that with MDT. Though I haven't used it ages. Plus I'm really trying to get away from local AD.

What's that have to do with MDT?

Perhaps nothing, though I've never heard of anyone using MDT outside of AD

It's used all the time without AD.

Has anyone noticed an uptick in Windows10 auto upgrading to Windows11 due to windows updates?
Seeing this with many Back office PC's where they "leave at the end of the night and it's windows10 and the come back and it's windows 11"

Just curious if were the only one's seeing this

Windows 10 will never automatically upgrade to Windows 11 without user action and consent by default.

Yeah. I have windows 10 on my home pc with auto updates and it only asks me if I want to upgrade. It never forces me or does it without my consent.

Sure but with offline media. Deployment would happen with some sort of other PXE Boot Server or service outside of the Windows computer.

But if you do not give consent, it will update without your consent anyway (after some time) 🙂
You just can't stop updates on Windows 10, only delay it for some time.
