What does Slackbot do?

I have a webserver and logs have some entries with the user agent Slackbot-LinkExpanding (+https://api.slack.com/robots).

What could be the purpose of this? It's trying to access a particular file so it doesn't look malicious. I just wonder why.

But it may be a connected to make notification via the Slack platform.

I seem to recall that being a thing.
