I never dealt with satellite but I have dealt with slow Internet speed for hundreds of users and setting up something like squid proxy helped a lot.

That, too. Although that tends to only help with lots of users, it does extremely little for a single user because it can't share the cache.

yeah I was thinking about posting about a proxy server yesterday - but that doesn't help with a small number of users and the modern web. i.e. Facebook, streaming services, heck - MangoLassi... the content is constantly updated so the cacheing service would rarely come into play.

My first order of business - When on WiFi at his home/lodge, the app for his Milestone cameras says "Cannot Connect To Server"...I verified this and sure enough, when on the WiFi here, it won't connect. If I jump to 4G, it connects...if I use my home WIFi or at work it connects. Any suggestions on what to check to see why it is only being blocked on the WiFi here? Something in the UniFi GUI that I could fix? Or the new router I purchased?

Just won't connect to the DNS name when on the local WiFi...if you drop to 4G, it works...if back on WiFi and I set a connection to that 192 address, it works...just not with the primary DNS name when on his WiFi.

You switched to using a real router. You have to set things up correctly.
Unlike the shit ass consumer stuff that you just let the thing do what it wants and be full of security holes.

You say "the wifi", but you didn't mention if you checked when plugged in directly.

Yup, that's necessary for the DNS setup being used.
