I was at a tech conference and I heard people talking about Debian. People were saying it differently than I was used to hearing. I have Cognitive Auditory Processing Disorder (Fancy way to say my brain and ears don't fully coordinate) sounding words out is difficult for me. Spelling tests were all rote memorization, which I became stellar at memorizing things because of it. Also if I am not giving you my full undivided attention when you are talking to me, I am not listening to you. So I hear people say DEE-be-an, sounding like someone with the name Dee. I always pronounced it more like how you would say the first part of the name Deborah De-be-an. Of course, I have no confidence in how things sound unless I hear someone who actually knows how to say it say it. So please help me!!

Google seems to pronounce it like I do.

Thank you, so I wasn't out of my mind. I thought I was saying it correctly.

It is Deb - EE an. Because the first three letters are the name Deb, from Debora. And the last three are Ian like @wirestyle22

It's literally those two names mashed together. It's named after the creator's family members.
