      ARM is the future.

Now that we have this settled, if your looking to purchase a single board computer, hold on and wait for boards with = RK3399 from Rockchip like

      The Next ODROID!

      https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=29932

which is expected to arrive for nearly 100$

Perfect for RAID 1 on the cheap, or anything really.

With a slick case, that would make a badass Kodi or Plex box.

I have a MakerSpace locally with free 3d printer use.... Need a case?

No WiFi on the board? Useless.

Huh ? the RK3399 is the CPU SOC just like with Intel and AMD, you usually dont have WiFi inside the CHIP.

There are many RK3399 implementations , I just post it ODRIOD cause it was listed.

                    http://linuxgizmos.com/first-rockchip-based-orange-pi-sbc-taps-rk3399/
                    The above has
The Orange Pi RK3399 feature set is very close to that of the Firefly-RK3399, with GbE, WiFi-AC, BT 4.1,

That said, you really should not care about build in WiFi, cause you can use an WiFi USB, and find one with good chip like this:

I said on the board. not the chip. No shit, there is no WiFi in the SOC.

The point of buying a board based system is to not have everything hanging off of it. If there is no WiFi and Bluetooth, just don't bother.

I have to agree with Jared on this one. Once Raspberry PI started to incorporate the WiFi onto the board it was awesome. I looked at ODROID but the issue here is the cost. I mean I can do what I need to do with a Raspberry PI at a much cheaper cost. In the right scenario, ODRIOD would be the right choice. For myself, I don't see that happening, because once you have the ODROID all setup you could step up to a much better system for not that much more money.

Compared to Pi3 this chip = RK3399 paves the way for ARM desktop alternatives without any lags.

I think this is also branded as the OP1 or whatever from Google. It's the screamer for their top end Chromebooks.

I never use RPi as a desktop.
