@obsolesce Not really changes to the ribbon, they are actually moving back to menus.

Interesting. I wonder if it was because people were losing too much real estate on smaller screens, like the 2-in-1s.

More likely it was a big selling point of competitors that they didn't use the ribbon that so many people disliked.

But quite a few other applications followed suit to make their apps look similar. Off the top of my head, Nitro PDF was one.

Just because other products follow someone's lead, doesn't mean people (like me), like the change. Just look at how well Ubuntu did with their desktop interface mimicking Windows single interface for tablets and computers.

I don't mind the ribbon. It's probably that I got used to it. I know my users have. I expect something just shy of pandemonium when this gets pushed out.

I remember the pandemonium when the original ribbon got rolled out. That was one of the factors in moving everyone to LibreOffice.

The new interface has menu driven choices as well as contextual/ribbon options that show to the right of the new menu bar, so it is a bit of hybrid.

Sounds like the worst of all worlds to me. I'll have to take a look at it sometime before summarily dismissing it.

Nope, the whole Snapchat company could disband and I'd never even know it (until you post about it).

I'm disgusted with the EU's decision to fine Google. The EU can do one, and it looks like our government (British) is going back on the Brexit vote by not giving us the leave that we wanted. A complete mess our country is in controlled by corrupt governments.....

You're not wrong, but if there is a license fee, then there can be competing solutions. It is hard to compete with free when you don't have the resources of Alphabet behind you. Google is not good for consumers in the long run.

And probably never will. Even the technical pieces haven't really changed in decades.
