Does anyone have a tool they recommend for managing having people sign up for a newsletter on a website? Like something that handles confirming the subscription and also unsubscribing?

MailChimp is the big service for newsletters. They have a lot of features built in, probably on the expensive side, though. Meant for high volume.

There is SendPress which is a pretty major WordPress plugin.
And there is The Newsletter Plugin. And the Email Subscribers plugin. All three have loads of users.

Another major player is Constant Contact. But they are not cheap, $20/mo minimum and $45/mo for most use cases.

Worth noting that MailChimp gives the first 2,000 subscribers for FREE. That's huge. For other providers, you are several tiers up in pricing at that many subscribers.

Tribulant makes a WordPress plugin that will send newsletters via MailGun. MailGun is what MangoLassi uses.
