@momurda said in ISPs can sell your browsing history without your consent, Senate rules:

verizon did this to see what the backlash would be. Expect this to be mandatory on all their phones within a year or two.

Oh absolutely, clearly the intent is there.

They will either hide it completely or rebrand it to not be AppFlash. The other thing is... how many consumers will actually care or take the time to understand what it is?

Well... who cares about the people who don't care about themselves? That's not my concern, that's for sure.

Sprint already remotely installs apps on their Android phones. Had one install right in front of my eyes. I could uninstall it, but it would be back. Can't disable it either, which sucks.

I did before signing up with Sprint all those years ago. I proudly sport my tinfoil hat for reasons, ever if you all think I'm nuts 😉

If Verizon starts installing stuff on my phone I'll root it faster than you can say Supercalifragilisticexpialodocious. (It takes me longer to root my phone right now, cause I just upgraded to a Pixel XL after my Note 4 fell off my holster and became a brick).

That's why I switched to Ting. T-Mobile makes a lot more sense when you're traipsing around the world.

                          Also... shameless plug time...
You get $25 credit to service or a new phone (you can bring your own phone) by using someone's referral code https://z6q0sjd201.ting.com/

As long as this thread is here (unless of course I need to create a new thread), we are using ZeroTier for SDN, I'd assume that we would still need a VPN and if so, what would you guys recommend?

We have a few tinfoil hat people here who don't do anything on their computer but teach. Although, I'd imagine searching for things related to teaching happens quite a bit.

                            TIA ~ Jeff

Every single one of you that think these no name MVNO companies will actually provide quality service is crazy. I guess you use Magic Jack at home too?

These MVNO companies only exist because the government mandates that the companies that actually build the networks have to resell the service to them.

Well ZT is a VPN, but a VPN alone is not enough. You don't need "another" VPN, but you need something that handles what they want and ZT might not do it alone, but certainly can with the right configuration.

Yes, I know this, and realize it could be the sliding slope that DSL has become. It's a risk I'm willing to take for a $30/month bill.

Quiet honestly it looks like there is a market for an ISP that will promise not to sell your data.

                                      Comcast has promised.
