Edit: I do see DNS, DHCP etc. But I'm not seeing Samba or AD integration (as would be expected)

You would not expect "AD Integration" as that would be what you see when you are a client of AD, rather than AD itself.

      http://www.nethserver.org/nethserver-7-alpha3-released/

"NethServer Alpha 3 brings the Active Directory integration and a centralized account management (so-called “multi-site”)."

Right, so it brings integration as a new optional feature, I would expect, so that it is not the master in that case. But that's not what you are looking for, right?

I was looking for anything at all related to joining or creating a DC on their demo. I see that OpenLDAP and Samba tools are installed under packages.

I'm just not seeing any of the menu options (as I'd expect) if I were working on a system that is a DC (or joined to a domain).

Again, I may just be blind, but I'm just not seeing it.

Maybe I've found it.. digging a bit more.

"nethserver-dc" doesn't appear to be installed, which would explain why the demo isn't showing any of the items I'd expect to see.

@IRJ it's going be part of our upgrade procedure from 6 to 7 @jospoortvliet is a great friend 🙂 happy to see him here too

Is NextCloud already in 7 and the site is just out of date? Or is it a "yet to be updated feature" that is yet coming?

I'd check my own installation but the download is still underway 😉

          Yeah. I think you're right.

              @DustinB3403 take a look at https://www.nethserver.org:8080/en-US/Account
              Supported providers are:

              • Local OpenLDAP running on NethServer itself
              • Remote LDAP server with RFC2307 schema
              • Local Samba 4 Active Directory Domain Controller
              • Remote Active Directory (Microsoft or Samba)

Please bear with us if the webui doesn't look so straightforward, we're improving it along the way

well, that sounds even better I'll test NethServer in my lab sooner than expected.

A full integration so that the system can be used as a complete PBX? Or just for faxing?

They are, but they can be used for a lot of other things, too. We run FreePBX in many places, but it can be used for just faxing or all kinds of things.

@scottalanmiller I need to point out It's not just a hope, we already have that as enterprise product with two thousand installations. We need just to work on it, upgrade to the last version and release for the community

This would be a really good product to do a AMA.

Is this basically meant to be a replacement for Windows Server Essentials (SBS)?

@IRJ That's one of our goals but you should bear in mind that NethServer is also a powerful UTM firewall (proxy http + content filter) and as you mentioned a personal cloud thanks to NextCloud.
I know that our main site isn't so detailed, I'm currently working on that

Works fine here. Port 980, SSL.

Fourth menu item down on the main menu. Open up "domain accounts" and it has you set up the domain.
