A regular problem that I have is that I will search for something and Google will return results from sites that I don't want to see, sometimes little else and it makes it very frustrating to find good results. Often the reason is because Google indexes the content of the site, but to me the content is behind a paywall or something similar, or it is just a bad resource that I would like to avoid. I have no idea if Google does this, but it would be great if I could select a site and simply tell Google not to return any results from that site. Seems like an obvious feature, but I have never heard of it nor would I know where to look for it.

If you have Chrome, you can enable that through an extension or plugin or something. If you want Google themselves to do it, unfortunately they used to but have since discontinued the service. They have an announcement of it here:

If you are on Firefox, you can use this plugin for that:

Not what I wanted to hear, but at least it's definitive. I'll try out the plugin route. Thanks.

You can always just add -site:somedomain.com to exclude a site.

That would be good on a case by case basis, but I assume he wants this for all services. If he had like fifty pay walled sites that he never wanted coming up in searches, it would be cumbersome to have to add that in for any given search. You could store that on a notepad somewhere to copypasta but would still be a big pain.
