Does Zimbra require an additional plugin to work with ActiveSync or is it already baked in the software? I have seem posts about Z-Push but wasn't sure if that is something that has to be installed afterwards.

        Appears to be baked in.

Is that for the commercial product or the opensource? Or is it one in the same? I was looking more at the opensource for now.

I would assume both versions have this functionality, although enabling it in the open source version may be difficult (under documented)

TRaditionally that was the functionality held back from the open source version.

I think because active sync requires a license from Microsoft they were never able to include it in the community version.

That's what I have always been led to believe.
