@jaredbusch that doesn't SEEM like it could be real....

It is because autocorrect in Outlook has a setting to capitalize automatically.

      Oh man.

That could definitely happen where I work. We have a lot of people who use caps lock for all capitalization purposes, so there is room for that to be busted, and now they are having to hold the shift key down while pushing a letter. Mayhem ensues!

Not gonna lie, that made me almost spit coffee all over my screen. It's almost as bad as writing out instructions on how to access/navigate our new Student Info System and still having users ask questions when it is in the doc. RTFM!!!

It is a legitimate email from Amazon. But it is nothing but a click bait click here to get something free email. When you work and work and work to train your users to not click on shit it seems too good to be true, but then a legitimate company sends out bullshit like this.

Other than smarter users, I don't see this problem going away.

Vendors know they need to present a near zero friction experience if they want customers - i.e. putting in a plan text link like amzn.com/shorturl and asking the customer to copy and paste it into a browser is a fail, and a fail for more than one reason.

Sadly - even the smartest, most well intention people will get tripped up - was tired, super busy and not paying close attention, etc..

While I completely agree with JB that ads like this one (email ads) just suck!, I don't see even legit ones ever going away 😞

Agreed. With the forever issues these emails provide, as @Dashrender pointed out, the best I can hope for is to continue training users and always tell them to hover over the link before clicking to verify the address. Plus my added statement, "If you don't know, the answer is NO!"

From a marketing perspective, my issue with the email is the perceived bonus you get for having an UNLIMITED account (I have one too). We are not getting any bonus for free, its included in the word Unlimited, at least according to the Oxford Dictionary.

How is it clickbait? Amazon HD music (CD quality audio) used to be about $5 extra for subscribers, they've now made it free. This is a good thing if you're an audiophile and surely Amazon customers will appreciate getting a heads-up?

It's a sign of healthy competition in the music streaming industry with Amazon, Tidal, Apple, Google and Spotify at each others throats.

                                            @carnival-boy said in I can't even:

How is it clickbait? Amazon HD music (CD quality audio) used to be about $5 extra for subscribers, they've now made it free. This is a good thing if you're an audiophile and surely Amazon customers will appreciate getting a heads-up?

It's a sign of healthy competition in the music streaming industry with Amazon, Tidal, Apple, Google and Spotify at each others throats.

that might all be true - but it's also bad training for users.

We spend our time trying to train users not to click on shit, and amazon sends stuff like this that makes it a bit more difficult to know exactly what it's doing or where its going.
Yeah, it's not click-bait per se, but definitely not what I would consider good form today.
And here's Skyetel doing the same damned thing
