I've had them just leave me while I stood at the gate. Pretty sure that they overbooked and closed the gate so that I wouldn't make the plane. But I was on time, connecting from another flight and they just didn't let me board (and lots of other people.)
Southwest has called me on my cell phone when I was transferring and the gates were a mile away from each other, maybe two. They knew I had landed and that my SW flight landing was delayed by traffic, and they were asking me to 'please hurry up!' I made it.

I've not had a chance to eat all day. Had pizza for dinner last night, nothing since then. Oops.

You need one of those nice box lunches.
Maybe instead of "Shots For Sam" there should have been a fund for "Lunch For Sam"
