Just like Lenovo, that'd be a little scary.

Seems like WD has to do this due to the legal entanglements that Toshiba otherwise would have to unwind.

Yeah, it is less than an ideal design, especially when they could easily have made R6 and R10 options.

Seems like a good move. WD has been in the need of a way to address flash storage for a while.

Figured warranty and/or RVS (Rotation Vibration Safeguard) would have been mentioned, as well.

Cost math on price can be interesting. As an example, a device getting twice the value out of a set of Red drives vs RE drives. SMBs would be more of the mindset to take the lowest price (yeah, yeah, not enterprise).
