      In case anyone else runs across this same issue, I got this resolved with a simple command:

      dracut --regenerate-all -f && grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

      After doing this, everything booted up properly.

      I then installed hyperv-daemons, rebooted, and everything works great.

      @scottalanmiller I agree on @Dashrender with this one, production stuff should be on production gear unless it's a really tiny job

      Well we pretty much know the size, if it runs in a VM on a Type 2, it's not big. And if we are just talking about some math, what's the purpose of production gear?

      My dad used to do linear algebra for Eastman Kodak. He could use the mainframe when needed, but mostly they just bought him a high end laptop and let him take it home. Meant he could do his math modeling anywhere, anytime. Was much more flexible. Unless he had a rush job, no reason to tie up the mainframe.

      Thank you for voicing so eloquently what some of us have been trying to wrap our heads around. I personally come from a frugal era of IT and will always scout free solutions before coughing up the cash or subscribing to a (shudder) recurring licensing fee. We used to buy our modem banks by sniping eBay auctions, and that was at a tri-state telecom. I realize you need to spend money to make money, but unnecessary expenditures should still be avoid if possible, imo.

      You're welcome 🙂

      It is only a file system change, so while there is storage risk there is not essentially any system level risks, if that makes sense. The risk here is pretty much that the files corrupt in the process (or the entire filesystem does.) It should be extremely reliable but should anything go wrong, there is essentially no concern around the platform not continuing to work and so a restore is all that would be needed.

      LOL lower their prices for a 20 million/year savings? that would be what, $0.10 per iPhone sold? even less?

      Yes, very tiny, and if they only passed all savings on to customers, what would be their incentive for switching?

      Exactly. You the consumer have already proven you're willing to pay X, why would/should they lower it? Instead they only care about lowering their expenses and increasing their profits.

      Isn't every version patched at some level? There isn't just one version.

      XenServer supports SD Card installs. Not sure about Xen

      XS is just a packaging of Xen. So anything XS supports, Xen has to have supported. Xen is completely flexible and can be used anyway that you want, it itself doesn't have the same concept of "supported" like XS does.
