Anyone ever try the products from Metalogix? If downloaded Essentials for Drives: File Shares to OneDrive Freemium, but I never received the activation code via email.

@Dashrender said in MS removed SharePoint from Business plans:

      VDI seems complex in licensing.

That is the only exception that I could think of, but is that really complex? I think the complexity is that people don't want to learn and/or admit what VDI is and make the complexity in understanding VDI, not in understanding VDI licensing.

My image above is pulled from OWA - which allows me to save directly to my ODfB while never touching or using my machine in any real way to make the transfer happen.

When we've seen this issue it's usually been saved credentials in Windows credential manager. For some reason they can authenticate but then Outlook randomly tries the credentials in credential manager. If the credentials are old you will get a login prompt. That's always the first thing I check.

@scottalanmiller What are you using for company email archiving? I no longer have a need for a solution that records up to 10 years, but always curious what others use.

We use all integrated with O365 these days.

      Check out Waterford Technologies.

I like the name, at least.

"Hi! Did you get my e-mail?"
      "Er...no"
"Really? I sent it last week!"
"Oh, ok. It's probably in my clutter folder"
"When do you read your clutter folder?"
      "Christmas"

Interesting enough,.. I'm still running into the issue of OWA showing new email. Last time I check email, the OWA icon showed 12 but I opened it up, and had only three emails and none of them were new.

The Whole MDM concept isn't new to exchange (though it may be to office 365). ActiveSync for exchange has had most of these features. I think they are just promoting it hoping you will want more managment.

I also found this.. .I'm still reading it. But could be useful.

      https://www.cogmotive.com/blog/office-365-tips/archiving-a-mailbox-for-terminated-users-in-office-365

And there is a minor rub in that. The free O365 lic includes E1 level, to do this operation they need to be E2 lic, which is under the paid section.

As the process will 'free the license' any reason why I can't push a e1 lic to an e2, follow the process - which should then release the e2 license?

Thanks @amytabor - That seemed to have worked. Now I have a long list of commands,.. of which to de-cypher.
There are some reports I wish to setup, and have available for later use.

And how to save that information to Excel or other forms....

      @GregoryHall
I have Office 2010 and it didn't 'connect' on mine either. the user will have either 2010 or 2007.

I did remember something about open,. so I was able to File, Open, and go that route... Just seems odd that it was there, and then it dropped.

I've done this too for a small office, MS doesn't delete date for at least 60 days if not longer, and you receive a ton of emails before they do it too.

But am I correct about users getting kicked out of MS Office once the subscription expires? Or do they wait a day or two after the subscription expires?

oh, I'm the expiration and renewal happened very quickly for me, so no one saw anything - I can't say what you're users will see. Maybe Greg will know.

Though knowing MS, I'd be surprised if it was a hard cut date - I would expect MS to give a several day grace period incase IT forgets to renew, etc.

Yeah I do it like once a week at least for someone. But today it's just not working.

I just got a call from Microsoft. Try going to Billing -> Subscriptions. Click on the subscription whose licenses need to be increased, and then click Change License Quantity on the far right. The link is kind of small, but it will take you to a screen where you can add licenses to the subscription you have very easily. It worked for me.

I'm with you on Google Apps. It's a good product but it is very limited and doesn't have the look and feel of modern apps. I don't like using Gmail either. It's unnecessarily quirky and busy. Google doesn't make things as fun to use or as easy to use as they could.

I think that the Chromebook model is better than it seems. Only problem is is that businesses are struggling to adapt to it. But it is a business problem and failing, not a Google one. Google supplies the tools, business can't grok them.

In the same vein, the Linux world has everything businesses need and have for a decade or more and yet almost no businesses have cares to go down the 100% Linux path regardless of the massive savings and ease of use once the transition is over.

With many things on ML, it comes out to semantics and asking the right original question.

But often people don't know what original question they really want to ask!
