@travisdh1 So on second thought, I'm thinking it might be a better approach to redirect the call recordings to the block device directly, without extending the LVM volume to the block device. So it would be like this:

Attach block device and create partition and file system.
Mount the new device to a new directory (/callrecordings)
In FreePBX, point the call recordings to this new directory.

This way, the VPS disk, is still completely separate from the block device disk. In my head, this just seems cleaner, and has less potential for errors if the block device is ever unavailable.

      Thoughts?

Yes, that makes way more sense.

The only thing that made me think of that was because about 2 weeks ago Vultr NJ had some issues with block storage. If they have an issue again, at least I could still boot the VM. (although I would have to remove the block device from the fstab. But then, It should boot fine I suppose. (crosses fingers)

      @scottalanmiller

after reading my post again, I saw that it suggested that I was able to do this, but I was not able.

I really want something easy like this but it needs more research and web development skills, so posting it here encase someone that has that can provide easier steps and successfully accomplish this.

      But "respecting it" means nothing.

In WIndows, pressing a key for a function only does that function, or nothing.

I am taking about, for example, in top where

      m

      and

      M

      do two totally different things.

Right, an in WIndows it always does two different things. If you keep using it in places where both do nothing, you can make ANYTHING into "not sensitive". But that logic, nearly every letter on the keyboard does the same thing - nothing. So you just told me that WIndows isn't "key sensitive". See why that makes no sense?

talking about number of packages, this has always been my reference:

if a distro has it packaged it is quite sure they have anything 😛

both debian and suse have it.

It should work flawlessly, do you have any issue?

I guess a big question is, with Nethserver is.. does it "just work" or is there a setting that needs to be selected? Not sure if this is the default behaviour or not.

Mostly this. I haven't done anything with it yet and before I invest the time, I'd like to know if it possible and/or how difficult it is, especially since a co-worker claims that it did not and he went with IIS to get the same task done (and then he sat there cursing the whole day because he doesn't like Microsoft products).

Start with old Desktop with Virtualization extension, something that you can install OS and dont have to remove cause of free space or you need it for something else.

Cause learning Linux or Centos or anything else needs environment, and virtualbox can work but it wont allow you play with KVM, and thats for me the big part of the fun.

Also you need to keep learning that means its is process some day you will leave it 4-5 days dormat cause your stuck in an issue the other day bulb lights up mainly due to reading this site and you get back on it.

All of the RHEL/CentOS 7 stuff I've used has started at 1000. Identity Management sets users in a random range around 1,000,000,000.

I think I got it working with Ubuntu LTS 16.04.2 currently installing the system will see how it goes, however it does make sense that OS needs to be in-charge of this.

@Ambarishrh said in Mange CentOS server updates centrally:

I have few servers which is not managed using cPanel (gitlab, sonrqube, elastic etc) and would like to setup a central update system. I've provisioned all the servers via ansible and initial thought was to just setup a yum group and just get all servers updated.

Looking at spacewalk now and seems like it has better options including auditing an environment and push udpates, along with a decent web interface. Anyone used spacewalk before? http://spacewalk.redhat.com/

If you are using a newer version of CentOS you should be looking at the Foreman which is the current upstream project for Satellite 6. It is highly integrated with puppet but they do have plugins for Ansible and other configuration managers.

Spacewalk was the upstream for Satellite 5.
