Age of Empires 2 HD.... lots of us here play it. AoE2 was so much better than AoE3, 3 was a total failure. AoE2 was by far the best of the serious. @NTG had a weekly AoE2 game for a long time. It's been patched and released via Steam with some major new updates that make the new version way better than what we had long ago.

I'll check that out tonight! She was looking at Age of Empires Mythology or whatev, I'll look at 2 w/ her too. Thx.

Age of Myth is like a really, really dumbed down version of the AoE games. Super simplified. Great for the super casual gaming set.

Have you taken a look at Co-optimus? http://www.co-optimus.com/

I am a huge co-op game lover. Have you checked out Portal 2? The co-op maps in that game are some of the best puzzles that I've seen and being able to get community made ones really extends that game play. Left4Dead and Left4Dead2 are both excellent as well especially if you like a bit of strategy involved. Staying in the Valve theme have you tried Team Fortress 2? I know it is more a competitive multiplayer game but you can play together on the same team.

If you like the RPG style Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II both have up to 6 player co-op with a great story and some amazing gameplay even if it is a bit dated. Trine and Trine 2 are in a similar vain with great gameplay and a great story. There is also Magicka which has a crazy high learning curve but where we had some of the most comical experiences playing it.

I have more ideas but these are some of my favorite games to just drop into and play especially if I have someone to play with.

If you liked Diablo 2 (and not so much Diablo 3) you would probably love Torchlight and Torchlight 2. Both were made by former Blizzard devs who created their own studio after Diablo 2. They move back into the classic dungeon crawling experience of both the original Diablo and Diablo 2.

Do you like MMOs? Guild Wars 2 is my personal favorite, great story, dozens of ways to get experience, very little grind.

Dungeon Defenders if you like defense/combat oriented games. It isn't for everyone but is a lot of fun if you have the right people to play with.

Doesn't Neverwinter Nights have that too?

Co-op? Yes it does both 1 and 2 have it built in. It also has player persistent worlds that you can setup so if only one of you wants to play you can. Then the other one can just drop in later.

If she likes RPGs, then Divinity: Original Sin would be a good choice. It has co-op with an interesting mechanic when you don't agree on which path to choose.

I haven't played this yet but my friends who have all recommend it.

I pretty much played through Torchlight in one night one time when I had insomnia. Loved it. Not sure I loved it enough to dig into Torchlight 2, but it was a great one-off.

I've actually never played Diablo 2. We liked 3 for a while but it got so old so quick with how the map was carved into "acts" with cut scenes and the most contrived, grab-baggy storyline you could imagine. Made me wish they'd do an Amalur reboot in Diablo's isometric format.

Played through Portal 2 w/ a friend, it was pretty great. Left4Dead I've never tried, I'll have to take a look.

Baldur's Gate sounds right up our alley, I think we'll look into that first.

I'd never heard of that site either, thank you!

Just watched some reviews of this. Looks like it may be exactly what we're looking for, thx.

Torchlight 2 is very good. It introduces a few new additions that give it some extended playability. I can understand though where Torchlight would be seen as a one off.

From the sounds of it you wouldn't really have liked Diablo 2 that much either, the storyline is similar and the way it is cut up is basically identical. Great games if you like to grind but if you want a great story they leave a bit to be desired.

Baldur's Gate is fantastic probably my favorite old school game. They are releasing a brand new expansion (after however many years) for the 2nd game in the series. Once you are done with these two (which if you do all the side quests could take you tens of hours) they re-released Icewind Dale as well.

Left4Dead isn't really the same of Portal 2, it is a great game and the re-playability is in what you make it if you get my meaning. The maps are well laid out and the story is interesting in that there isn't much of one unless you pay attention to some of the easter eggs and extras.

Baldur's Gate is now available on iPad also. I ran out of space and had to remove it before I could play through it all the way thoug.

I have it there (iPad) and from Steam. But Gog has it now. I would buy it from Gog if buying new today.
