I got a notification about activity today from Anthem. This is how it went and during the whole process they state this is for security purposes.

1.) receive a call stating you will receive an email from them with an alert.
2.) receive an email stating you have a pending alert and to call a [different] number.
3.) Call said number to be told to enter your registered phone number on file. It says hang up now.
4.) receive an incoming call from that number, Press 1 (for what reason I do not know) then confirm you are who they are asking for, enter your pin. Hear your pending alert.

This is all automated and seems to just be a random process rather than really for "security" as they state.

Was the pending alert actually useful? Or accurate?

Yeah someone was trying to open a credit line in my name again. This is about the 5th time since Anthems leak.

Wow. Aren't they paying for LifeLock or something for you?

Nope you pay that out of pocket. One year credit monitoring is all they do for 1 year. And even if they open accounts anthem will only pay up to $5,000 (lifetime) on your behalf from activities from the leak. You can upgrade to their "Pro" services for extra coverage.

PRO: This service offers extra layers of protection, including:

              Credit monitoring
A $1 million identity theft insurance policy
For a child under 18 years old, AllClear ID ChildScan finds acts of fraud against children by searching data files for use of your child’s information.

Seriously? If they do more damage, I'd be calling out for a lawyer.

I've been double whammied though... I recently found out I was part of that OPM breach as well.

Don't waste your love on somebody, who doesn't value it.
