Unable to add profile picture from URL

Have never tried that. I've heard of people having it work, though. I would recommend Gravatar, though, just because it adds to the overall speed due to their extensive CDN.

I randomly have lots of weird issues like that, though not that specific one. Typically I'll wait a few mins & give it a new chrome tab and it'll work.

I've had the same image since I started. No plans on changing it either.
Back on topic, can you upload it to ML or does it go to imigur & link back? -

Using Gravatar is not the point. The platform offers the choice, but it does not work. That is the point.

It is done via Gravatar. The latest update should have removed even the appearance of being able to upload one. The move to 0.7.0 finally gave the official "disable" option which we were hoping for.
Using Gravatar is a good idea in general, not just because it helps to keep the cost of running the community down, but because it speeds the site up and it can be leveraged by you wherever you go.
