I need to refresh my Cisco skills, because I haven't used them too much in about 1 year.. AH.

Anyway. I have Dell PowerConnect switches at home which are pretty much like Cisco. I don't want to buy a Cisco Router that isn't going to be useful to me just for refreshing. Do you think VyOS would be enough for refreshing for someone who understands networking pretty well but has been away from it for a while?

VyOS is very Cisco like. Definitely good for learning the skills. But the command set isn't super close to Cisco, although it shares a style, so ... maybe.

@thecreativeone91 I've got some ASA5505's and some old catalyst switches if you'd like to play and send em back or something?

Why not get your hands on GNS3 or PacketTracer to practice on? It is nice having actual physical gear and related issues to work with, but it can be cost and space prohibitive.

I have it. But I don't have an active SmartNet anymore so I don't have any images.

It's very tempting. But I think GNS3/PacketTracer should work fine for me.

                      Thanks though.

+1 for not being yet another person who just gives up on quality and melts their brains with Sonicwall
