Haha I don't want to ruin the surprise but I'm very excited. We're working with ~40k sq feet and a small office right now. The new facility is much bigger with a lot more bells and whistles. It's great to see us come this far.

I am going to rearrange my current desk to be a standing desk tomorrow.

New layout. It is not quite tall enough, but I need to get work done this afternoon.

@minion-queen my Back hurts already from being straighter. At least I know that will go away.

Found the old bed frame for my Sleep number bed, took the feet off of it and it is pretty good now. Will need cables to make things cleaner on the backside. and I can use my MacBook Pro on the wood desk to the right when I need to sit.

Looks like a pretty nice workspace!

The perfect combination (to me) would be a workbench (that's the term for the "standing desk" that's been in use for hundreds of years) and a drafting chair. You can stand and use it, or you can sit at a comfortable height and use it. Or, you can slide the computers to the side and use it for actual work. 🙂 Go ahead and hate me; I can take it.

During a project in a standing-height workspace, I stood. Over those 3 weeks, I noticed that I had more energy and my trunk and legs had toned up a bit. If you do consider going standing, get an ergonomic industrial floor mat and a comfortable pair of shoes (sneakers?). The cushioning will help tremendously. Doing this in a traditional pair of dress shoes and hard flooring will get old quite quickly.

I believe that I will get a drafting chair for this setup actually. I'll see after I've used the current design for a few weeks.

I want the desk that you raise and lower so it only takes up the space of a normal desk but gives you multiple options.

Would be nice, but just working with what I have at the moment.

Me too, which is why I have no standing desk at all 😞

@art_of_shred Workbench + drafting chair: this has always seemed the perfect solution to me. I don't understand why people are talking about desks that move up and down. Surely it makes more sense to move your arse up and down (via a drafting chair) rather than move your entire desk up and down.

Because the point isn't to be high or low but to stand versus sit 🙂

The point is, if you do ever want to have a sit down, it makes sense to move up to the desk height, not have the desk move down to the chair height. I often stand at the local bar. If I'm tired I'll grab a stool - I don't grab a chair and ask for the entire bar to be lowered.

Ah, I see. Not many tall seats good for actual work though.
