Yeah, lipo is far more dangerous than li-ion. I'm not sure why they even got used in laptops.

Believe it when I see it. Al work hardens, including through heat cycling. Catastrophic failures will always be exciting in batteries, simply because they are so chemically energetic. Pun intended. Only safety factor I see with them is that Al will not burn in air like Li

Smarmy bit is probably true, but batteries are NOT to be toyed with.
Even a little 2032 coin cell in a mobo will do very bad things if you toss it into your pocket with some loose change.
