      Hi All,

I Am looking for a opensource local hosted web based application for Team task management and task update for team members .

My requirement is to assign task to team members and the members can update their daily task. Also I need to take the report of the daily task per person by weekly .

      Please suggest a good one.

@sreekumarpg There is allways the good old Spiceworks Helpdesk. Not open source, but "free" by way of adds.

Asana might be good too. https://asana.com/
Its only free up to a certain amount of accounts but we found it great for Project Management when we were smaller.

Is there a special requirement you have that says this must be in-house? I can attest to the fact that Asana is a nice tool as well.

That's actually a very good one. Make a ticket for everything, and assign to the person handling the issue. It's easy to get a view of the open tasks per team member that way.

There's issue trackers for that, they're much better at that kind of thing, and even then, project planning and task management works better when you can set things hierarchically, which you can't do with tickets or issues.

In larger projects kanban boards can be great for overview of where larger parts are, breaking it down and using it for smaller tasks is really painful.

We use Evernote, it works quite nice. You can use it as an application/mobile app/ or web interface. Have have several notes for keeping track of todo lists or project status, or other pertinent information that me might think we need to keep.

I think that would be too cumbersome for me. It's great for little stuff but I wouldn't like it for a team.

We've got 8 people in our team that use it. I wouldn't say it's the best product for the task. But i would say that the IT manager would need to pay for the pro version on his/her account that way he/she can share out a notebook to the team (and it will be read/write by all team members).

JIRA is super affordable at just $10 for 10 users (If you host it)
