I am sure that you are hearing a lot about that as it is so near. It is one of the two main stories on our news here as well. At the office during the day we have CNN news (www.cnn.com) on all of the time and every time I go for coffee I see the latest updates. It is major news even here. Not sure how many Americans were on board but I know that at least one was.

It's just a theory we are not really sure about what really happened.

These things ought help keep human humble in we are still learning, things can happen very fast, and technology is not perfect. Best thoughts for those missing family and friends.

Trying to follow this story, but after a week reporting on it seems to be taking very strange turns. Don't know what to make of the increased speculation.

Can appreciate the task of tracking and trying to find it by these air traffic videos—

Latest news I hear is that now they are suspecting the pilots and think maybe they intentionally turned tracking and communications off before changing course. However, you hear their friends and neighbors saying "Such a nice guy. I can't imagine them doing anything like that."

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Personally, I'm thinking they will find it in one piece ... if they find it.

The pilot who had an entire flight simulator in his garage seems a little fishy. But, if I was a pilot, I'd be that guy, so I can't really be the one pointing any fingers.

Pretty much my thought. Because I would not be a pilot if it was not also my passion. That is why i can be found at my PC late night after the kids are sleeping. I'm programming or learning or tinkering.

Good I'm not completely overlooking anything. Trying to stay with reputable sources (NYT, BBC, Rueters, Washington Post, etc). Weirdness of the situation is getting weird.

                                Speculation is always weird.

Can see the information flow from official source has been slow, in part, to be careful to insure more facts come out than people deriving their own conclusions. Like terrorists! stolen plane! mass kidnapping! ALIENS!!!

Seems the truer answer is, in high probability, a tragic accident happening at a rare blackout time.

Tonight, after it was announced that missing Malaysia Airline passenger jet MH370 ended its flight in the middle of the Indian Ocean far from any landing site, Maira tweeted: "I just don't know what to say."

I just happened to be standing in the break room getting coffee when the PM did the live announcement that they were declaring the plane lost at sea.

The batteries on the black box are only meant to last for 30 days, so there's a very good chance that if the plane is really in the Indian Ocean somewhere, it's never going to be found. They have less than a week to find the flight data recorder via the beacon it emits.
