Trying to hire a new guy today, too.

And I signed an offer for new gig today. 😄

      Awesome!

Offer received and without hesitation accepted. In doing so I go from a contractor to full bore employee again. In addition to a spread of benefits I also will receive an increase in pay- and first salary job in a number of years.

        Congrats!

so- now it is a bit bitter sweet as I may very well lose all of my accrued PTO,..94 hours.

              Will have to see

Dunno about your state, but every state I have dealt with, accrued means it is earned and is 100% required to be paid out.

For those in Ohio, the employer must have a written policy stating under what conditions accrued PTO will not be paid.

And there’s the ‘rub’ of course.

While I live and work in Kentucky, the company that pays me is in Ohio…. And yes- it’s in the Employee handbook. So it’s very very likely that I’ll get screwed out of it.

Even though I am only partly to blame here.

                    • Because I get it done, it’s given to me
                    • because I close the most tickets, it’s given to me
                    • because it had to be done and there isn’t anyone else here to do it, it’s given to me
                    • because Jake hole didn’t finish it, I have to.
                    • because “I trust you to get it done”,…

When I left public school teaching (Georgia), I didn't receive any payment for 500+ sick leave hours 😞

If there's any doubt, it's probably time. Especially if those doing the gaslighting are on your own team or are in the immediate chain of command above you.

Sick time is rarely rolled in, unlike vacation time that usually is.

That's called "leverage". Every response should be "and why are you paying them to do that rather than the person who is actually doing it?" and "why do you keep paying people you don't trust?" and "I have a hard time believing your faith in me as you say that when I get more work, but say the opposite in my paycheck. Your actions say you don't actually have faith in me."

Just told a customer that it is all gone.

In reference to their mission critical B2C system.
They were running it on a refurb Lenovo desktop that they bought from MicroCenter 2 years ago.
No backup software for the application or desktop as a whole in use.
