New job is looking better and better, one thing I'm looking to do to help out with that is getting a head set - Company has said if we need equipment we can reach out; what is everyone using for a headset?

We use Zendesk with calls from our computer so it would need to connect that way- let me know what other information you need - right now i'm using turtle beach from my PS4 ... lol

Jabra Evolve 20 is a good basic headset. Microphone quality is great, but leaves a little to be desired conform-wise. Could be good for frist time.

@WrCombs I would look for 2 units if you are on calls for most of the day.

Get one over the ear cup style headset and one earbud style.

I cannot wear the same headset for more than 3-4 hours and still be comfortable. No matter how good the headset is.

Since you are using it with a soft phone on a computer, there are millions of models of BT headsets out there.

Jabra, Sennheiser, and Bose are shortlist.
Poly has fallen off the boat IMO.

I didn't even think about that - appreciate the heads up

If I need Bluetooth, I just use Tozo earbuds from Amazon. Cheap and work really well. For my work headset, whatever cheap Logitech we get at the local store. I keep it simple.

Polycom itself was always garbage. When Plantronics was its own company, they were amazing. But now that Polycom bought them, I wouldn't touch them. Poly has such a tremendous reputation of making bad products and screwing the customers.

I would prefer wired , but I've been looking a little bit and might have a couple I'm looking more closely at

For wired, I stick to Logitech. Good quality at a low price. I'm wearing a free pair right now (the local store gives them away with things.) Works fine.

For real phone use, I'm always on a physical desk phone (Fanvil or Yealink) and I use the single ear, over the ear, headset that goes with whatever one I have.

I'm a fan of Jabra for work and home.

They can do wired and wireless models.

I tried the Evolve2 85 and went back to an Elite 85h for work. I've also got a couple of wired USB around as well for work.

At home I've got a set of Elite85h for over the ear and a set of Active75t for earbuds.

The only thing I've seen as a down for Jabra was that some of the lower-end stuff didn't stand up too well to user abuse, but what ever does?

One thing to consider that I didn't see mentioned is noise-cancelling (yes/no, active/passive) and hear-through as well as side-tone configuration (how much of your own voice you hear when using the headset on something like a teams or zoom call, you might end up shouting into the void if you aren't careful)

For myself, I can’t seem to have anything to goes ‘in ear’. Anything in that category exerts to much pressure on the canal and I end up with a migraine. The other issue is that I haven’t found one yet that will even stay in my ear. For my cell and music I have a set of Aftershockz Bone conductive that work well

I'd think about what the primary purpose of the headset is before considering options.

                          Things to consider:

                          • What's the environment like where you are sitting?
                          • Do you need to hear people around you?
                          • Do you need to be able to move around while on a call?
                          • Are you going to take calls when you're out and about (not at your desk)?
                          • How many hours per day are you going to use it?
                          • Do you going to take it on and off many times per day?
                          • Are you going to use it for taking helpdesk calls or other things as well?

I'd look for different things depending on how and where you going to use it.

There is a big difference between a super-light monaural "call-center" headset and a "gaming" headset for example. Both will work, but one will be much better than the other in different scenarios.

Just looking at Jabra's site gives you an idea of the different types of headsets you can choose from:

Good things to think about ; using this to track some ideas

Working from home so household noise as well as kid being home during shifts etc. so noise cancelling will be nice.

Do you need to hear people around you?

on occasion - with the kid home, yes. but not necessarily important.

Do you need to be able to move around while on a call?
no, should be okay without moving around while on calls.
Are you going to take calls when you're out and about (not at your desk)?

no softphone through zendesk , wont be taking the calls with me

How many hours per day are you going to use it?

                            7-8 off and on

Do you going to take it on and off many times per day?

probably - wont be taking the headset to get coffee or go to the restroom.

Are you going to use it for taking helpdesk calls or other things as well?

Helpdesk and meetings mostly - thankfully I wont be answering calls direct unless they are transferred to me.

Meh, I don't bother to take it off for a trip to those locations.. The former, I continue to talk. The latter, not so much. Don't answer there either..

Depends on the phone app and the headset. I prefer something where the button on the headset can at least pickup and hang up.

We can set it up to go to our phones, but I'm not putting call forwarding to my cell phone - I'll just use zendesk phone once i get access is my thought process.

Nothing I said referenced your cell phone.

                                      Example:
The Sangoma Phone desktop app on my Mac does not work with the hangup command (double tap) on my Indy Fuel earbuds. But the SangomaConnect app on my mobile phone does work correctly.

Now likely the problem is the the earbuds don't do ANYTHING on the Mac, as they were likely never designed for it. But the do volume control, pickup, and hangup just fine on the iPhone.

I'll just use zendesk phone once i get access is my thought process.

zendesk phone come from zendesk, its a feature of the ticketing system , no special application needed.
