Conversation with one of the corporate office employees this morning While getting coffee;
Me : on my phone looking at emails from the weekend "oh sorry, catching up on emails, i'll get out of the way.
Her: "you dont check your email over the weekend? "
me: "not since we moved to the clock in clock out system."shrugs " I shut off notifications for my work email.."
Her:"oh, i guess that makes sense.. well have a good day."jajaja, that's what you get for not using salary and paying a fair wage.
that was the point i was trying to make to her during that conversation . if i was paid more and on salary, than I would be more keen to look.
Truth be told I check the work email once a day on the weekends just to be sure I didn't miss anything important that needs to be passed on to the Emergency On Call guy .Anytime you are hourly, weekend emails are a no no (unless you get to clock in, of course.)

Went to a bookshop on the weekend and picked up Dune. Hoping to finish it and then watch the movie.

Did an hour and a half hike in the midday heat today. I'm feeling it. Filming a museum tomorrow (we hope). Gotta go salsa dance tonight.

New job has me swamped. Going to get rid of Active Directory as one of the dc suffered a failure this week and executive management said "been meaning to do that for a while. You take the the project. What licenses do you need". No questions, not push back, just OK get it done. Good to work in a company where pretty much everyone is at least somewhat technical.

When the wife and I were living in Hallendale, I found one on the patio, one in the living room and one in the driveway (over several years). My claw hammer did the heavy lifting. I wasted more than one good set of hotdog tongs on them. Big and black, like right out of an episode of Columbo. Ghah!

We had an exciting night. 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit in the Pacific just off shore. That's the fifth largest in Nicaragua history. It shook Honduras and Salvadore, too. We are in Leon, which is really close to the epicenter (about as close as western Managua) and wow did we feel it!

Apparently that scorpion knew the earthquake was coming and possibly wanted you to protect him.
