This instance has been running as a VM for almost 3 years.

Their docs show that they support Fedora 31/32. Did you recently upgrade the OS?

Not recently. But this is the first time I have done a pi -up since then.

No it’s more about an in place solution and the cost to change.

The current solution has worked just fine up until now. Changing for no reason is an expense the business doe s not need. Why spend money that it has no reason to spend.

Unlike Aaron, I actually do try to be fiscally responsible for my clients and don’t chase the latest new shiny toy.

I seem to recall AdGuard was embroiled in something where advertisers were paying to be whitelisted. Maybe it was a different product?

pihole uninstall && curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AdguardTeam/AdGuardHome/master/scripts/install.sh | sh

That was hard - take the rest of the day off to rest up.

What cost? Also, what's the cost of trying to get it to work on F33? - it must be higher.

I don't see the problem. This is to be expected when running production on Fedora and especially so when it's unsupported by the software.

Using RedHat distros there is not much choice:

                                  • new-release-every-6-month-and-hope-for-the-best Fedora
                                  • new-release-every-5-year-and-run-very-old-packages RHEL/CentOS

While it's a good fit for some, a lot of companies would prefer something in between these two options.

Pi-hole obviously don't have the resources to keep up with every imaginable distro and every new release of it. So when you run Pi-hole on an unsupported distro or version of a distro, such as Fedora 33, you may run into problems.

If they are committed to support Fedora, and that is the way it looks, they're probably working on supporting F33.

Going back to the question @JaredBusch I have done it with the Force Switch. Or Setting it to not check on the OS version https://docs.pi-hole.net/main/prerequisites/

Of course he did. He has no idea what it means to actually be a business.

That there is some stupid slowness about getting on to 33 from that team is a different issue.

Ubuntu is no different. Just even crappier.

No, it's not a different issue, it's exactly the same issue. Being committed means just that.

F33 was released in October and now it's March. In less than 2 months F34 will be released.
If they really were committed to support Fedora, F33 would have been officially supported months ago.
