      ML primarily caters to IT professionals working in the SMB space. I’m curious if any of you have run across any such community for folks in the large business / enterprise space?

        You are thinking of SW, they are SMB focused. ML is broad IT, not SMB focused. SMB is the area needing communities the most to replicate the community found inside of an enterprise. So all online communities are primarily SMB by nature, but ML is not SMB focused.

          I’ll concede that “primarily” is inaccurate, but in the time I’ve spent here questions / answers / follow up questions seem to be through an SMB lens more often than not.

          This is a curious idea to me: community found inside of an enterprise. I’ve never worked in an enterprise, but I suppose it makes sense that one would have it’s own community within its walls for ask questions and discuss ideas.

            @EddieJennings I've previously worked with a large enterprise and during my time there, we used yammer and jive all access to internal employees that was used for discussions and helping temas to solve issues, new deployments etc.

              @Ambarishrh Good to know, and it does make sense. For an SMB IT pro, it's difficult to have a community of 1.

                I understand that enterprises will have internal discussions, but if that is the only place they live, how do they find out about new things?

                  Tech conferences, training / courses, and also not all enterprise employees stay away from online tech communities. I doubt most do. Enterprise are much more ambitious to invest in employees than SMB. All I have experienced so far, they have this already budgeted for.

                    Don't know if we qualify as enterprise, but communities like this help get an external perspective regardless of the size of the organization. The challenge I find in larger orgs is the inertia involved in anything IT. Almost in the literal sense as far as trying to get something started but also in trying to halt / redirect a project that's heading for a bad outcome.

                      In an actual enterprise, I would suspect that only the management team of IT could have much real impact on a project going a bad direction. And again, it's getting those in management to have buy-in before anything would change.
