In the Event viewer are there any error messages?

      Error code: 0x80070005 maybe?

I'm thinking that you want the firewall turned on. Not sure. I'm out. Good Luck

So for that error message, the quick fix is perform a clean install from what microsoft is showing along with a few other websites.

Okay, so that's fine, now it's time to schedule a site visit since you now have proof that reloading this box is the recommended approach.

Which means a site visit. Stop milking the customer for remote hours.

Yup,.. In the world of Break Fix... finite amount of time per device before you TandL (toast and load)..

It's where I am on our Primary and Secondary system. It's dropping to the Secondary several times a day.. which, while it is designed to do,.. it's not suppose to do it for 'no reason'.. Suspect the Vendor borked the install / setup from the get go. Of course they don't want to acknowledge it's possible.....

sometimes i'ts not bad.... but yea. It's a PITA. I still can't get to the NAS from this PC, but every other PC in the house I can. (mutters under breath)

                                  • does an IP scanner (advanced IP scanner, angry IP scanner etc) find the .100 IP from one of the client boxes and see shares?
                                  • does the MAC for the above scan match what's on the server (ie. do you have a duplicate IP on the network)
                                  • is this something that was working and stopped or a new share that you can't get off the ground?

Have you run the usual checks like sfc /scannow repeating until it comes up clear, DISM (I forget the switches) and chkdsk 😄 /r also until it comes up clear?

                                      It is Windows after all.

@scotth said in folder sharing issue:

Have you run the usual checks like sfc /scannow repeating until it comes up clear, DISM (I forget the switches) and chkdsk 😄 /r also until it comes up clear?

                                        It is Windows after all.

Yeah, at this point - doing all that is OK - but really, it should be dump and reload time.

another thing to toss on the pile because we all know he won't be allowed to reload it yet... rebuild the network stack.

Have since tried to uninstall the nic and make registry changes (there were a lot that were out of wack apparently) but with no luck still.

edit Upon this and changing registry keys I was able to get it to communicate and work properly.
