We have an HPE c7000 Blade Enclosure with the HPE Virtual Connect FlexFabric 10Gb/24-Port Switch in Bay 1 (and in Bay 2) and an official HPE SFP+ 10GigE Copper adapter in X5 connected directly to an Ethernet drop for the DC (just for testing.) There is only the one connection and there is really nothing to get wrong, and the port appears to be working from other indicators. But in Virtual Connection Manager we see "Failed Validation" and Connector Type "incompatible". This appears to be an indication that the SFP+ adapter is incorrect, but there was only one option for it and we used that exact one, and it physically was the right adapter.

I am attempting to make an uplink port group, but this is not looking promising.

This page has info on the error codes here. And it just says...

Incompatible—The port is populated with an SFP module that does not match the usage assigned to the port, such as a FC SFP connected to a port designated for Ethernet network traffic. A port that is not assigned to a specific function is assumed to be designated for Ethernet network traffic. An FCoE-capable port that has an SFP-FC module connected not assigned to a fabric or network is designated for a network, and the status is "Incompatible." When a fabric is created on that port, the status changes to "Linked.

I should mention that this is a new install enclosure and both the enclosure and the FlexFabric have just run their setup wizards, so this is all default setup.

This is the manual for the HPE Virtual Connect FlexFabric 10Gb/24-Port Module and we are plugged into X5, which is Ethernet only, so seems pretty logical that it is the correct port.

Nevermind everyone. I had the datacenter pull the part out and take a picture of it. Instead of an HP 10GigE copper SFP+ unit, it is some weird Curvature SFP 1.25Gb/s fiber unit that I've never seen before. The wrong part in every way. No wonder it didn't work.
