@technobabble If its cheaper there, I would suggest to get the hydraulic/automatic adjusted desk. And second day of use, feels very good. I might get one for my office too! 🙂

I know that I would. I'm sitting right now and wish that I was standing.

I decided that I needed to stand more and am sick of sitting down. So I took a table in the living room, put a packing bin on top of it, put a laptop on it and am now very happy having a standing height machine to use right in the middle of the house where the wife and kids are. This is really nice. I'm able to easily walk up, work, walk away do whatever and feel great already. I like this a lot.

Well, I just might have to rethink some things...Drafting chairs and tall workbench might be what this home office needs. Drafting chairs does sound like something a Nascar fan would have in his living vRooom!

I just found out from a Hulu ad that Varidesk is not just made in Texas, but super local to us right by the airport. They have an office tour there that you can take now to check out all of their stuff. Right in Coppell, that's their HQ.

I actually have a varidesk and love it. The only thing to be concerned about is depth of the desk. If your desk is not deep enough, some of the varidesk will hang off and could compromise the stability of the varidesk. I've had mine rocking a few times. Other than that, they are great products.

I find that I usually use mine in the standing position, but there are times where I will lower it down.

Hasn't it been proven that standing desks provide virtually no health benefits like people thought?

I think for most people, it's not a health thing but a comfort thing. I like to stand a bit of the day.

If there are health benefits, it probably would come from switching positions regularly, rather than choosing any single one.

I think being sedentary in itself is bad from what we see. If the individual feels more comfortable then yes I'd say it does contribute to productivity.

See, when I use a standing desk I also walk around continuously. Like seriously, continuously. It's one of the reasons that I stand to work as much as I do, I do a task then walk to think about it, or do some light exercise (lift weights for a few seconds, stretch, something) every so often. When I sit, I tend to stay sitting. So for me, one is sedentary and one is very active.

@IRJ There has to be health benefits. Standing and walking around more has to be better than sitting all day

But only barely. walking itself is something our bodies are designed to do - we're REALLY good at it, it typically requires very little energy for us to walk, stand, etc.
