And I work with restaurants so I know exactly how this goes, The idea is so that you just come to enjoy the food and atmosphere and drinks whatever else, and then they hit you with the bill at the end.
Because if you to their restaurant then you should afford whatever you order - even if they hide the prices.

My older brother is a very soft spoken gay guy, and I mention this because this happened to him when we were out at a restaurant and he, for the first time in my life I ever saw, flipped out and screamed at the waitress. It was like watching a scene from The Bird Cage.

What's even more dumb about it, is if they choose to do that, They have to tax it both with the city tax and (in omaha atleast) the city ordinance on food/bev.
and then tax the rest of the check. -
