Pricing out Yealink phones for the offices in Mexico and Panama. And boy are the prices high, in markets where I would expect them to be low. Yealink imports from China, presumably directly to these two countries (these are major importer markets), but the prices locally are about 45% - 100% higher than in the US, which is having a tariff based trade war with China currently.

Anyone know why the prices are so astronomic in markets where tighter margins would seem more logical?

Are there specific technology terrifs in those states that could have resulted in the extremely rich phone providers there?

I don't believe so. And these, you'd expect, someone to work around that by showing that they are SBCs, rather than telephony components.

            Are the prices in USD?

Mexico uses $ but it's normally in peso.

Peso is about 20 to the dollar, you aren't likely to confuse them. Phones are like $4,000 in peso, or $150 in USD.

Yes you can, and I don't know. But I put out a request for quote from our dealing a few hours ago. So we will find out.

                    Which model?
Most imported things in Mexico will pay 16% VAT (IVA), it doesn't matter if it is imported by a large distributor or an individual. Add the customs agency fees and that 45% start feeling smaller.

And that is for countries that have a Free Trade agreement with Mexico; otherwise the government will have another slice of the cake.

Looked at a few, but the T42S is what we are most interested in.

I will check prices on Monday, what is a good price in USA?
Amazon.com has them at ~170 USD and https://enlaza.mx has it at 119.48 USD Tax included in Mexico (but I don't know the company)

$120 in Mexico would be great. Amazon in the US has them for $105, final price. A good dealer in the US is a few bucks cheaper.

                            Enlaza shows $179 here.

I am asking a local distributor; I will let you know

Maybe it was a mistake that they corrected.

Usually in Latin American countries such as my own the price to import the phones makes the phones price much higher, same happens to any other electronic. In the DR customs is pretty tight and they look to tax everything.

I got to say this: I din't find a public price below 150 USD + TAX, you are right.
