Great question...there was a small update. I did via the "Software" menu

@fateknollogee how is the third party library? Like what if I have an RPM to add to it, and there is no DNF?

After, I saw your post, I literally just fired it up (as a vm).
Let me try to add some RPM's & a few snaps.
                I'll be right back.

Tried to install RPM form here: https://code-industry.net/free-pdf-editor/ = "Failed to install file: not supported"

Slack from the Flathub installed ok.

@scottalanmiller how would you update and install packages without dnf, I use Ubuntu and would be weird if they removed apt...
Is there a separate command for kernel and repos updates?

Flathub version of LibreOffice (v6.1.1.2) available from the Software section installs without a hitch.

I haven't had a chance to use Silverblue yet, but on atomic (renamed to Silverblue) you could install RPMs but they were installed on an overlay filesystem. Pretty much everything on here is flatpak/snap or Docker.

It's actually pretty cool. It uses ostree for updates. I watched a guy rebase his OS from Fedora to CentOS and back and nothing changed from the user perspective. Pretty interesting.

I have to agree, just quickly scanning the docs, I like what I'm seeing.

So far for me, no regrets using fc 26/27/28 as my daily machine after many years on Win 7/8/8.1/10.

Ubuntu is headed in the same directly. You'd use SNAP instead of APT. But how it handles things like the kernel, I've no idea.

Thanks with Flatpaks are easy. It's things without them that are hard.

This process is only for applications. I would assume that you still use apt or dnf for system updates.

There is no apt or dnf... to get updates for the OS, you can run: rpm-ostree upgrade
