I use CloneZilla for imaging when possible, but to do any type of imaging with Sysprep on OEM devices you will need at least one VL license to do imaging.

No one is questioning the licensing. this has nothing to do with the question of how to do it.

      Don't confuse things.

I am not confusing, I am making it clear...

No, you are bringing in unrelated information that has nothing to do with the question.

You don't get to bow out. This was the specific question.

@scottalanmiller said in Options for Windows Desktop Deployments without Windows Server:

What imaging deployment tools that are free would everyone recommend?

What does licensing have to do with that? Nothing. It is a specific discussion about the tools available. If you want to discuss licensing, go resurrect the other thread we have on that around here.

There is no reason to resurrect that thread... gosh it would be annoying...

It's a valid and relevant point. The whole point of this "discussion" is to discuss all aspects relating to this... and licensing is definitely related to Win10 and imaging.

No, and I just quoted the first post a bit ago.. It is specifically about the tools.

                              Anyways. . .

I already stated that licensing needs to be considered, and as for the tool to use, fogproject.org is the one. It's hands down the best imaging solution I've used and it just works, at scale.

Simple and quick and easy to maintain.

Discussion of the question asked. yes. Not discussion of non-relevant points.
There are lots of options for tools for this.
But you all hung the fuck up on licensing and have mentioned no tools other than @DustinB3403 mentioning FOG and myself mentioning CloneZilla.

See my above screenshot. They require a Linux server, and recommend it being virtual.

                                        Does that require a server?

You can use a laptop, desktop or a server.

That isn't how I took it, but you could use any device, but a server setup has to be present to serve the images.

But you all hung the fuck up on licensing and have mentioned no tools other than @DustinB3403 mentioning FOG and myself mentioning CloneZilla.

Have you ever actually tried using MDT?
