Looking for a FREE backup method for Hyper-V 5 Linux VM.

Backing up to either a NAS share or ISCSI target.

Looked at Vembu, Altero etc but they all have 2-3 limit on the Free versions.
Veeam was looking like an option but with the free version is it only VeeamZip you get? As i want to schedule to backups each night not be a manual process.

Wondering what other options there are 🙂
Should of stuck with XenServer and XenOrchestra 😄

*Should add i was looking for something that will run as an appliance VM or on Linux so i don't need a Windows/Server Licensed VM

@hobbit666 UrBackup is free, unless you need CBT This is $17 cost per client.

The VeeamZip scripts are easy to script and schedule with Windows task manager, but I understand the frustration.

Yeah been looking at VeeamZip and scripts.

How? Last time I tried, it required a full Windows Server + Hyper-V to be running. There was no way for me to install it on Hyper-V Server.

@jaredbusch Yeah saw that but looks like things have moved slowly, but i'm about to give up as the steps are just a pain.

Was going to have a play see what steps have to follow to get it working then was going to post on that thread what i had to do 🙂

Just found this on an older pc, hope the user hasn't been using it.

Amazing, either it was an MSI or that version is so old that did not do automatic updates.

So old, i installed FF 61 and this was still there as a separate installed program!

@momurda So you're saying it's still better than IE by about 10-fold?

Setting up a Snipe-IT demo to simulate a spreadsheet in hopes to convinced certain individuals who are responsible for laptops inventory.

If they are still using spreadsheets, they don't get a say in the matter.

Some of those individuals are accountants. But one of them is willing to try. Utilizing the custom fields will be the key.

The custom fields in Snipe-IT, as far as I've used are simple data dumps. There are a few worth adding, but from an accounting side of things I can't think of any.

Not everyone wants to run a server at home, but a Pi, sure!

Bingo. No virtual infrastructure at home, certainly don't want any more fans running.
