@jaredbusch If the app is storing data on the phone, I would want it encrypted, no if's or buts....

The device isn't already encrypted? You're doing it wrong.

Whole device encryption = everything stored on the device is encrypted when it's locked, and EVERYTHING supports whole device encryption. So either you want to re-encrypt, or already have security holes so big you might as well not even consider this one before fixing the others.

I personally use KeePass for Android and pull the database down from my personal dropbox account.

Works well, and it could easily work for you as well, but you'd be sharing credentials across 2 mobile devices at a minimum.

Why bother? You can simply have a document in Dropbox shared. That document will never be visible without the transport being encrypted.

Because I want the added security, your use can can be different than mine, but I want to know that people who access to my dropbox account are people who know the password.

@travisdh1 most modern android devices are now encrypted by default?, if the app is sharing a file between devices, I would still want that file encrypted.

Both Android and iOS encrypt themselves as soon as you have a pin/password.

The transfer is not clear text. so again, the point?

because if said file was to be stored on a windows machine of which I use, I would want this file encrypted, I'm once again not talking about the transport method of the file.

What about a bookstack site for information sharing and then something like Lastpass for password sharing?

Yes, essentially all mobile devices are encrypted by default. I know of none that are not.

Ah, then you either need to encrypt the file, the folder, or the machine.

If you like to still use KeePass, KeeWeb is an option.
You can use the Online Web App to access the file that is stored on a WebDAV server, Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive.

Better choice. Yeah, maybe I’m a little biased. Just not a whiskey fan.
