So I just put a US-8 in at a customer site, and it is behaving oddly. It will basically shut its ports off for extended periods of time, and then come back on a few hours later. The switch appears to be on still since the power light is on, but the port LEDs are off and there is no traffic flowing. I have an ERL, a Netgear WAP, a printer, and 3 computers (two clients and a backup server) connected to it. Nothing is plugged into the single PoE port (eth0/7). Any thoughts?

Bad power is the first thing that comes to mind.

          Is the firmware current?

Do you have UNMS? If so, does that show it going offline too?

Wait US? UniFi Switch? Is it dropping from the controller?

Yes, since the controller is plugged into it.

Current firmware. I don't have the number is front of me, but it is 3.9.x.

It is just in a power strip, but I'll try a different outlet.

You're using a physical controller and not a virtual one?

RMA will take time. buy a new one immediately and then RMA this one.

Then you will have a spare to use elsewhere or keep on the shelf. or resell.

The controller software is running on one of the desktops.

It turns out that the outlet that I had the switched plugged into via a powerstrip had one always on outlet and the other was switched. So whenever they would leave they would turn off the lamp connected to the switched outlet...and their network switch. Good times. I moved some things around and the switch is now on a UPS and off that switched outlet.
