Im pretty new with Macs and now i need a tool that reports low disk space alert via email.

      requirements:
      -silent for end user
      -cheap

SodiumSuite would likely be a great candidate here.

It's silent (besides your installation) and it's free.

Other option could be Nagios or Zabbix

SS doesn't do email alerts (yet) 😞

            color me shocked.

Ok than Nagios or Zabbix are going to be the best options that I can think of.

and i forgot to mention that users are spread in various networks. So it would be 1 nagios / mac?

With Zabbix at least you install an agent and it reports back to whatever server you have, assuming it can access that server.

I think it's the same with Nagios. Some people swear by the one, and others swear by the other.

I've used and deployed Zabbix, it was easy enough to get going.

Zabbix is quite good in general.

If I wasn't aware of the trouble that Macs are giving you I'd downvote this response 😉

Ha, it's funny because it's true.
